Customer Service Representative Interview

Application

I applied online. The process took 5 days. I interviewed at QVC (Houston, TX) in Sep 2022

Interview

It was an over the phone interview. Timed at about 30 minutes. Got a job offer. Quick, simple. Basically just making sure your personality and job experience qualifies you for an offer.

Interview Questions

  • Describe a time where you deescalated a situation between customer and employee.

Being detailed is important for many types of job roles. Typically you want to highlight how youve done that in previous roles. Example: “Being meticulous is important to me. In my last job, I had to count the money in the register as a cashier to make sure it matched to the receipts down to the last penny.” This was to ensure there wasnt any “wrongdoing” at the company by any of the cashiers and I was always accurate in my reports.

Bad Answer: Complaining about or blaming their former job, boss or colleagues. Also, having no good reason. Good answer: One that focuses on the positives about why the job theyre applying for offers them better learning or career opportunities, chances for advancement, aligns more closely to their long term goals, or is a better fit for them.

During the interview In QVC process employers will want to find out how you respond to supervision. They want to know whether you have any problems with authority, If you can work well as part of a group (see previous question) and if you take instructions well etc. Never ever ever, criticize a past supervisor or boss. This is a red flag for airlines and your prospective employer will likely assume you are a difficult employee, unable to work in a team or take intruction and side with your former employer.

Good interview questions to ask interviewers at the end of the job interview include questions on the company growth or expansion, questions on personal development and training and questions on company values, staff retention and company achievements.

I evaluate success In QVC in different ways. At work, it is meeting the goals set by my supervisors and my fellow workers. It is my understanding, from talking to other employees, that the Global Guideline company is recognized for not only rewarding success but giving employees opportunity to grow as well.

Example: “When I was working as an assistant manager at my previous job, we had a large shipment of products arrive damaged. This meant we would have to sell those items at a discount, which could hurt our sales numbers for the week. However, I knew there were ways to fix some of the damage so we could still sell them at full price. I worked with the team to repair the damaged goods and sold them all at full price.”

Example: “The biggest difficulty I’ve encountered while working in a group environment was when my manager asked me to lead a project with two other employees. While I felt confident in my abilities as a leader, the other two employees were more experienced than I was at the time. I tried to be open to their ideas and suggestions, but sometimes they didn’t take my leadership seriously. In the end, we all worked together to create an effective plan for our project.”

This question can help the interviewer get to know you better and understand why you are a good fit for QVC. When answering this question, it can be helpful to mention something specific about the company that interests you or how your skills and experience make you a great candidate for the role.

Example: “I’ve never worked in retail, but I do have experience working with customers. In my previous job as an accountant, I was responsible for helping clients understand their finances and how they could improve them. This helped me develop excellent communication skills and learn how to help people solve problems.”
