2. Which repair or modification jobs would you refuse to complete?

I would refuse to make modifications that sacrifice safety or street legality. For example, excessively lowering a suspension can affect handling and braking. Removing emissions equipment will cause a vehicle to fail inspection. To keep the car safe to drive on public roads, I want to make sure that all repairs are done according to the manufacturer’s instructions.

3. At what point is a vehicle not worth repairing?

It depends on the age and condition of the vehicle. Once corrosion and rust have significantly weakened the frame or body panels repairs become extremely difficult and expensive. I would carefully inspect the vehicle and provide the customer with an honest assessment. If the cost of repairs far exceeds the car’s value then it may not be worth fixing. However, the customer’s emotional attachment is also a consideration.

4. What would you do if a client suggested an unreasonably short turnaround time?

Quality auto body work takes time. I would explain that rushing repairs risks poor workmanship and many comeback issues. I want customers to be 100% satisfied with the end result. Based on the amount of work that needs to be done, I would work with them to set reasonable date goals. I would also keep them up to date on the project’s progress often so they know it’s moving along smoothly.
