Vermont Electric Cooperative (VEC) provides electric service to over 34,000 members in northern Vermont. As a VEC member, you receive a monthly electric bill for your home or business VEC offers multiple convenient payment options to pay your bill online, by phone, mail or in person

Overview of VEC Billing and Payment

VEC sends monthly electric bills to members on the 9th of each month Payment is due upon receipt. Late fees apply if payment is received after the due date.

Members can choose to spread out payments over the year with Budget Billing. Low-income and hardship assistance is also available.

VEC members have access to the SmartHub portal to view bills, make payments, monitor electric use and more.

Pay Online Through SmartHub

The fastest and easiest way to pay your VEC electric bill is through SmartHub. To pay online:

  1. Go to www.vermontelectric.coop and click on “Pay Now”

  2. Register for a SmartHub account or log in to your account.

  3. Select “Pay Now” and choose a payment method – credit/debit card or bank account

  4. Enter your payment details and submit.

Online payments through SmartHub post instantly to your VEC account. You can also set up recurring auto-pay.

Pay by Phone

Call VEC at 1-800-832-2667 to access the automated phone payment system. You’ll need your account number.

Follow the prompts to check your balance and make a payment by credit/debit card or check. Phone payments typically process within 1 business day.

Notify VEC at least 3 days before you move so a final meter read can be completed. Provide a forwarding address for your final bill and any deposit refunds.

Closing your account on time ensures no continued service issues or billing at your old address. Have all outstanding bills paid before closing.
