Paying your water, sewer, and other utility bills to the Red Lion Municipal Authority (RLMA) is an important responsibility for residents and businesses in Red Lion borough as well as portions of Windsor and York Townships. I want to provide all the key details on how to pay your RLMA bill so you can avoid late fees, service interruptions, and other hassles.
There are a few ways to go about paying your RLMA bill each month. I’ll outline the main options below, including paying online, by mail, in person, or via direct debit from your bank account.
Online Bill Pay With PSN
Online through PSN, a licensed payment processor, is one of the easiest ways to pay your local government bill in Red Lion. If you click the “Pay Now” button on the RLMA website and enter your account information, you can pay right there.
PSN does charge a small fee for processing payments online. However the convenience may be worth it if you want to quickly pay your bill from anywhere without stamps, checks or trips to the RLMA office.
When paying online with PSN, you can use a debit card, credit card, or electronic check. You’ll need to have your RLMA account number handy to complete the payment. The PSN website is secure and processes payments safely to credit your RLMA account quickly.
You can also get the PSN Payments app for your iPhone or Android phone if you’re on the go. With just a few taps, you can get to your account, see your most recent bill, and make a payment. Very handy!
Paying by Mail
Another popular choice is to mail your payment. Just make the check payable to “Red Lion Municipal Authority” and send it to
P.O. Box 190
Red Lion, PA 17356
Be sure to write your RLMA account number on your check or any correspondence included.
It’s important to mail your payment early enough to ensure it arrives by the due date printed on your bill. The due date is usually the 20th of each month. Payments received after the due date incur late fees. Allow 7-10 days for your mailed payment to reach the RLMA office.
Paying In Person
You can also pay your RLMA bill in person at the Red Lion Municipal Authority office located at 11 E Broadway, Red Lion, PA.
The office is open Monday through Friday from 8 AM to 4:30 PM excluding holidays. When paying in person, you can pay with cash, check, money order or debit/credit card. Be sure to bring your entire bill if you want a receipt.
There is also an after hours payment drop box in front of the building if you can’t make it during business hours. Just be sure to include your RLMA account number on the payment.
Direct Debit Payments
For the most hassle-free option, sign up for direct debit payments from your bank account. With direct debit, the amount due each month is automatically deducted from your bank account on the 18th of the month.
You’ll still get a paper bill in the mail so you can review the charges, but payment happens automatically without any action needed on your part.
To sign up for direct debit, go to the RLMA website, download the Direct Debit Payment Application, and send it in with a voided check. This authorizes the withdrawals each month to pay your bill.
When are Bills Due?
Red Lion Municipal Authority bills are issued at the end of each month and are typically due by the 20th of the following month. However, due dates can shift a bit based on weekends and holidays.
Failing to pay by the due date results in late fees, so be sure to check your bill and note the exact due date each month. Late fees are currently $50 but will increase to $150 starting in May 2023.
What Happens if You Don’t Pay?
If you don’t pay your RLMA bill by the due date, you’ll first get hit with the late fee as mentioned above. If the bill remains unpaid, your water service may eventually be shut off on the shutoff date printed on your bill and notices.
In 2025, the shutoff dates are:
- March Bills – Shutoff April 16
- April Bills – Shutoff April 25
To restore service after shutoff, you’ll have to pay the full past due amount plus a $150 delinquent bill fee. Service is only restored until 3:30 PM weekdays, so payments after that time will mean waiting until the next business day.
Obviously, you want to avoid shutoffs if at all possible. Pay on time every month using one of the convenient payment options above. Reach out to RLMA before the due date if you expect payment issues or need an extension. Communication goes a long way in working out solutions.
What About New Service or Direct Debit Changes?
If you need to sign up for new water or sewer service with RLMA, you can download the Application for Metered Water & Sewer on their website and submit it. This starts the billing process for your address.
Already have service but want to cancel or change your direct debit payments? You can also find the Direct Debit Payment Cancellation form on the site to make adjustments as needed.
