Paying your utility bill to the City of Richland just got a whole lot easier thanks to their online bill pay system. As a Richland resident, I’ve been using this system for years to pay my water, sewer garbage, and electricity bills and I’m going to walk you through exactly how it works.
The site is https://ecare the first thing you need to know. ci. richland. wa. us/MakeaPayment. aspx. This is where you pay your bill every month.
When you arrive at the site, you’ll see a simple login page that asks for your Customer # and Account #. These can be found printed on your monthly utility bill. After entering them, click “Login,” and you’ll be taken to the dashboard for your account.
Here’s a quick look at your account, showing you the current balance, due date, and account status. There is also a box called “Online Payment ID” that will always show you the confirmation number after you make a payment.
To make a payment, find the “One Time Payment” button below your account information. If you click this, you’ll be taken to a safe page where you can pay. Use a credit card or bank account to make a payment here. After you send the payment, a new window will appear to complete the deal.
One important note Make sure to disable your pop-up blocker or you won’t be able to see the payment window
After entering your details and submitting, you’ll get a confirmation page with your Online Payment ID number. Your account page will also now show the new updated balance with your payment deducted.
And that’s it! In just a few clicks you can pay your utility bill safely and securely online 24/7. No more mailing checks or sitting on hold with the city’s call center.
Now let’s go over a few other useful tidbits about the online bill pay system:
-
You can setup recurring payments so your bill gets paid automatically each month. Just select this option during payment.
-
Sign up for paperless billing to get your statement emailed instead of mailed. This saves trees!
-
If your account is past due or disconnected, you can pay online to restore service. But make sure to also call customer service.
-
You can login anytime to check your balance or view payment history for the past 12 months.
-
For added security, there’s an option to change your password anytime.
-
Customer service can still be reached weekdays 8am-5pm at (509) 942-1104 if you need help.
-
Watch out for scams! The city will never call asking for personal info like social security numbers.
If you have any other questions on the process, don’t hesitate to call the city’s customer service line. The reps are very knowledgeable and can walk you through setting up your account if you’re new. Or you can check out the FAQs and “How To” articles on the website.
