A job interview is usually a face-to-face meeting between you and a manager or supervisor from the company you’d like to work for. It is very important because the employer will base much of their decision of whether or not to hire you on the interview. The interviewer will ask you a number of questions about your educational and work experiences, your personality, your strengths and weaknesses, your skills, and why you want the job. You will also have the opportunity to ask a few questions about the company and the job position. The interview normally takes place in the manager’s office, but some interviews are also done over the phone or even during a meal at a restaurant. Sometimes there is more than one interviewer, and sometimes there may be other job applicants interviewing with you at the same time (group interview). Initially, I found the process to be smooth and informative. The interview invite was clear and sent out in good time. However, I was shocked at the communication post-interview. It was clearly stated that candidates would hear back on a particular date, but this date passed and I had to send two follow-up emails to eventually get a generic email saying that I wasnt successful. The email said that feedback could be provided which I replied and asked for. I never heard back after that. Considering this is an autistic charity interviewing an autistic candidate, I am shocked at this poor communication and inability to follow through on agreed actions.

    I applied online and was invited to an interview within 2 weeks. The interview process was good, staff was very friendly and made me feel comfortable. I have also received a list of interview questions and got like 5 minutes to read through them and get myself ready. I have also been provided with a glass of water. Overall good experience. I was not successful and did not get a job and received a feedback that although I had some relevant experience and good knowledge there were other candidates that were closer match to the role.

    Initial interview wasnt very well structured. Small amount of group exercises and then a few questions at the end.. Very easy and informal, but it was perhaps too informal which was the issue. After this happened, I attended the place Id be working at twice (WITHOUT PAYMENT), for a few hours at a time, and worked alongside others. Manager at workplace had an informal discussion with me in front of other workers, then waited 2 further months for HR to provide a contract and start date.

    I interviewed for Performance Data Analyst at the National Autistic Society. I was interviewed by 3 people and I found them very friendly and diligent. I was asked to do a presentation for 10-mins and the interview and questions followed after. Although the interview went according to plan, I felt the room was not suitable for doing a presentation and it was hard to use the chart-board to write words as there was very little space. Also, the feedback process after the interview was slow. I received an email that I did not get the offer, however I was told to email back for further feedback. I tried a number of times to phone the hiring manager and email, but did not receive a reply for a while – this was frustrating at first, however after composing a long email, I finally got some feedback, which was good. The feedback – I agreed in parts and disagreed with other parts. I prepared a lot for the presentation, but the feedback didnt reflect this fully. Nevertheless, it was quite a long haul and was disappointed I didnt get the offer.
