Volunteer Interview
I applied online. I interviewed at Big Brothers Big Sisters (Orlando, FL) in Jan 2015
Interview
They sat with me one on one and asked me questions to know a little more about myself that way they can have a better idea of who to match me with. They asked why I wanted to volunteer for them and how I found out about them. They were very nice and easy to talk to.
- What interested you in volunteering for our program and how did you hear about us?
What is a “Big”?
We have options for any amount of time you have to devote! In our Community-Based Mentoring Program, we ask you to commit for one year and meet with your Little twice a month. Matches typically spend 6-10 hours per month together. Don’t have that much time? Our Littles2B or After School Enrichment Program have lesser time commitments and are great ways to become involved.
Every match we make is assigned a Match Support Specialist who will be speaking with you monthly. Professional support from BBBSLV staff helps our matches stay together longer and have more positive youth outcomes. Any time you have a question or concern, your Match Support Specialist is always available to speak.

How do you become a Big?
You’ll start by filling out our application form. Once your application is approved, you’ll be contacted to schedule an interview with one of our enrollment specialists. After the interview, our staff will perform reference checks, a background check, and will review your driving record. If you are approved to become a Big (congratulations!), our staff will begin searching for prospective Littles for you. We make matches based on location, common interests, and other measures that are important to you, the LIttles, and their parents/guardians. This process can take anywhere from 30-60 days. Once a compatible match has been found, a staff member will contact you to tell you about the Little. With your approval, a Match Meeting will be set up so the two of you can meet!
