Paying your electric bill to Blue Ridge Electric Cooperative doesn’t have to be a hassle. Blue Ridge offers many flexible payment options to fit your needs. In this article, I’ll explain the different ways you can pay your Blue Ridge electric bill online, by phone, or in person.
Pay Online Through the Member Portal
The easiest way for most members to pay their Blue Ridge electric bill is through the online member portal You can access the member portal from Blue Ridge’s website Just look for the “Pay My Bill” link at the top of the homepage.
The online member portal allows you to securely pay your bill 24/7. You can use a credit card debit card, or electronic check. Payments made through the online portal are credited to your Blue Ridge account immediately.
To use the online portal you’ll need to set up an account with your Blue Ridge account number. The portal is user-friendly so it only takes a minute to set up. Once your account is created, you can log in anytime to view your bill and make a payment.
I like using the online member portal because it’s fast and easy. I can pay in my pajamas at midnight if I want! I also like being able to see my current charges before making a payment.
Download the Mobile App
Blue Ridge also offers a free mobile app for Apple and Android devices. The app allows you to pay your bill, view outage information, and more.
To pay your bill through the app, just download it from the App Store or Google Play. Log in using your Blue Ridge account credentials. The app will sync with your account so you can view your current bill and make a payment with a few taps.
The Blue Ridge mobile app offers the same convenience as the online member portal. You can pay anytime from anywhere using your smartphone. The app also sends important notifications like outage alerts, so it’s useful to have even if you don’t use it to pay each month.
Sign Up for Automatic Draft Payments
If you want to set it and forget it, automatic draft payments are the way to go. With draft payments, Blue Ridge will automatically withdraw the amount of your monthly bill from your checking account, savings account, or credit/debit card.
To start draft payments, download the authorization form from the Blue Ridge website. Fill it out with your account and payment information. You can mail the form to Blue Ridge or drop it off at one of their office locations.
Once draft payments are set up, you don’t have to do anything each month. Your payment will be made automatically on the due date. You’ll still receive a monthly statement, so you can review the charges before the draft occurs.
Automatic drafts save you time and give you peace of mind. You don’t have to worry about missing a payment when it’s handled automatically.
Mail In Your Payment
If you prefer to pay your bill by check or money order, you can always mail in a payment. Simply write the payment out to Blue Ridge Electric Cooperative and put it in the mail using the return envelope provided with your monthly statement.
You can also mail payments directly to:
Blue Ridge Electric Cooperative
PO Box 277
Pickens, SC 29671
Mailed payments must be received by the due date to avoid late fees. I recommend mailing your payment at least 5 business days before the due date to ensure it arrives on time.
Pay at a Blue Ridge Office
Blue Ridge has two office locations where you can pay your bill in person. The main office is located at:
734 West Main Street
Pickens, SC 29671
The second office is located at 1850 SC Highway 11, Walhalla, SC 29691.
Both offices are open Monday through Friday from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm. You can pay using cash, check, money order, or credit/debit card.
After business hours, you can use the night depository box to drop off your payment. Or, use the self-service kiosk, which accepts payments 24/7.
Paying in person ensures your payment will be credited right away without any mail delays. It’s a good option if you’ve had late payments in the past.
Call the Phone Payment Line
You can pay your Blue Ridge electric bill over the phone using the Express Payment Line at 864-898-2008 or the general customer service line at 800-240-3400.
To pay by phone, you’ll need to provide your Blue Ridge account number and credit/debit card or checking account information. The representatives can process your payment while you’re on the call.
The phone payment option is handy when you need to make a last minute payment by the due date. But keep in mind that the lines are only open during normal business hours.
Sign Up for Budget Billing
Budget billing helps stabilize your monthly electric payments by spreading out costs evenly across the year. Your payment is based on a 12-month rolling average of your electricity usage.
To qualify for budget billing, you must be a member in good standing with no past due bills. Blue Ridge will calculate your average usage and monthly budget payment amount. This amount will be your consistent bill from month to month.
At the end of each year, Blue Ridge will conduct an annual review and recalculate your budget payment for the next 12 months. When you close your account, any credit or owed balance is reconciled.
Budget billing prevents huge seasonal spikes in your electric bills. And it makes it easier to budget when you know the amount due each month.
Consider Levelized Billing
Levelized billing is another billing option that smooths out electricity costs over the year. With levelized billing, your monthly bill is based on the rolling 12-month average of your actual usage.
Each month, Blue Ridge calculates your new 12-month average bill. So your bill gradually changes based on your usage, unlike fixed budget billing. But it still helps prevent drastic bill swings.
Levelized billing requires no annual review. The only time your account is reconciled is if you close it or opt out of the program.
To start levelized billing, contact Blue Ridge Electric. They can evaluate your account eligibility and get you started.
Choose the Best Payment Option for You
As you can see, Blue Ridge offers many flexible payment options. Here’s a quick summary:

-

Take some time to review your options and choose the methods that fit your lifestyle. Many members use a combination of different options each month.
