Bowling Alley interview
Yes.. When it comes down to the wire, the best thing I can to remain focused, have some flexibility, and understand priorities.. Giving them attention in the order they are needed.
Both are important. You need to stress that. However, if you could only choose one, ask yourself As Bowling Alley Operator – do you like to be “in the weeds” with your work, or do you want to be the one painting the vision?
Interviewers ask personal questions in an interview to “see if candidates will fit in with the culture [and] give them the opportunity to open up and display their personality, too,”. In other words, if someone asks about your hobbies outside of work, its totally OK to open up and share what really makes you tick. (Do keep it semi-professional, though: Saying you like to have a few beers at the local hot spot on Saturday night is fine. Telling them that Monday is usually a rough day for you because youre always hungover is not.)
If you truly believe youre a 10, you better be able to explain why with examples / stories. If you believe youre a great contributor and have room to grow, say 8 or 9. If youre below that, explain what you would do to improve yourself to get the ranking you believe you can be.
Demonstrate both loyalty and ambition in the answer to this question. After sharing your personal ambition, it may be a good time to ask the interviewer if your ambitions match those of the company.
Example: “In my last role as a marketing manager for a local restaurant chain, I was responsible for managing multiple campaigns at once. One of these campaigns included creating social media content for both Facebook and Instagram while also monitoring analytics and engagement metrics. Another campaign involved developing new recipes for our menu items while also testing out different ways to market them online.”
Example: “I worked as an event planner for my university’s alumni association. I organized several large events that included catering, entertainment and decorations. The most challenging part of the job was finding vendors who were affordable but also provided high-quality services. I learned how to negotiate contracts with vendors so we could get the best deals.”
Example: “When I worked at my previous job as a server, there was one family who came in every Friday night. They were always very kind and generous, so I would always make sure to give them excellent service. One day, they told me that they were going on vacation and wouldn’t be able to come into the restaurant for a few weeks. I offered to pack up some food for them to take with them on their trip. It made them feel more comfortable knowing that we cared about them while they were away.”
Employers ask this question to make sure you can work a variety of hours. They want someone who is willing to put in the extra effort when needed and will be able to adjust their schedule as necessary. When answering, explain that you are flexible with your schedule and can work any time they need.
Example: “I once had a project where I was unable to complete it by the deadline. At first, I thought I could get it done on time, but as the deadline got closer, I realized that wasn’t going to be possible. I spoke with my supervisor about the issue and they were understanding. They gave me an extension so I could finish the assignment.”
