It was a pretty long process but I got two 1 on 1 interviews. Asked about 5 questions each time. It’s not that bad honestly. I haven’t heard back from them yet, but it hasn’t been 24 hours yet.

What happens in an HEB HireVue interview?
In a HireVue interview, you’ll record yourself answering questions.
Those questions might be shown to you as a couple of lines of text or they might be displayed as a pre-recorded video by someone at HEB asking you that question.
Then, you’ll get around 30 seconds to prepare your answer and around two minutes to answer.
The number of questions varies, so be ready to answer anything from 2 to 5 questions.
You can answer on your cell phone, laptop, or desktop computer – as long as it has a camera.
The questions asked will be mostly behavioral ones, so make sure you are brushed up on how to answer those. The best way to answer them is via the STAR method – if you aren’t familiar with how to ace every question using that method, check out the video below.
You also want to be aware of HEB’s corporate values. You want to answer the behavioral questions on HireVue through the lens of those values. This will make the hiring manager’s life very easy as they are looking for those values in every person they evaluate.

What is HireVue? How does it work?
When you hear someone say video interview, you probably think of a Skype interview. However, HireVue is quite different.
For starters, youre not actually interviewing with a real human. Instead, HireVue sends you a series of interview questions youll answer via video on your laptop, tablet, or smartphone. Youll have 30 seconds to prepare, then a set time of 90 seconds to three minutes (depending on the question) to record and submit your answer
HireVue then transcribes your answers and issues you a score, which is used to rank you among the other applicants. Now, dont be fooled — HireVue scores more than the words you say. It also analyzes your facial expressions, eye contact and movements, voice inflection, and a number of other data points from the video.
With this tech advancement, companies are using Hirevue to replace initial phone screens and even first-round live interviews. HireVue seems to be a popular hiring tool with big banks and accounting firms, including J.P. Morgan, Goldman Sachs, Morgan Stanley, and Deloitte. The HireVue website even states Urban Outfitters, Singapore Airlines, and Intel as clients, among hundreds of other companies.
However, not everyone is on board with this new hiring tool. Some argue the technology is superficial and deceptive — that its not giving qualified candidates a chance if, for example, they speak with little inflection. However, proponents argue HireVue strips gender, age, race, and other biases from the interviewing process.
Either way, the technology is catching on, and even colleges have started offering students resources to help them prepare for their impending HireVue interviews.
