Students wishing to participate in the HEOP must apply to Marist College by submitting a Marist College Application or the Common Application to the Admissions Office. In addition, a Supplementary Application for the Higher Education Opportunity Program must be completed. You can obtain the Supplementary Application by clicking on the link below or from the Undergraduate Admission Office at (845) 575-3226.

Each year a select group of genuinely motivated students is recommended to the Admissions Office to be accepted into the college as participants in our program. Selecting among the numerous qualified applicants is always challenging and the admission is competitive. When submitting our recommendations, we place a strong emphasis on a students potential for success and his/her willingness to utilize the supportive resources offered through membership in HEOP and the Marist Community at large. Those who gain acceptance clearly demonstrate not only a need for the service, but also the determination, skill and maturity required to manage the demands of college.

When all information has been received in their respective offices, the entire application will be reviewed by both the HEOP office and the Undergraduate Admissions Office. Applicants should be aware that admission to this program is competitive, and that only a limited number of spaces are available each year. Early application is strongly recommended.

The Arthur O. Eve Higher Education Opportunity Program (HEOP) is a comprehensive academic support program for New York State residents and first-time college students. An HEOP candidate must be both academically and economically eligible. The academic guidelines are set by the Admissions Office of the HEOP-sponsoring college/university. The economic guidelines are set by the New York State Board of Regents for all opportunity programs statewide.

Students interested in HEOP may submit their application materials through the Common Application. As admission for HEOP is limited and competitive, applicants are encouraged to apply as early as possible (students may choose to apply Early Action or Regular Decision). Students must also complete their Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Students must qualify both academically and economically for HEOP consideration.

Thank you Aramada that was great information..D interview was today and she just called to say she was accepted!!! I was totally not prepared for that, I thought she would have the interview and then they would let us know but she was told on the spot..she has some paper work to return and that is that! I am so relieved and she is over the moon right now.. Good luck to everyone! Go Rams… 🙂

Sure Zombymush – D 1600/2400 SAT..she also submitted the ACT 25, GPA 93, similar ECs as your brother, URM, Also did your brother send in your parents 2009 tax information? We didnt get an invite for an interview until I submitted those even though Fordhams Admissions dept had contacted us back in December to let us know that daughters application was referred to the HEOP program…hope this helps!

andloveyelledno – sounds like NYU conducts their heop program in a completly different way from Fordham..my daughters interview was exactly that a one on one interview and she was pretty much told on the spot pending certain financial aid documents return she would be given a spot and sure enough the director called her with the good news just days after submitting those additional financial aid documents…I believe the NYU heop program is of a larger scale…the class size for Fordham is about 35 from what we were told I think NYU has room for about 150? Dont quote me on that but obviously a much bigger heop group…good luck with NYU…daughter applied to NYU as well and expressed interest in their heop program but as of yet we have not heard from them

Overall i am personally happy with fordham because of the great teachers, heop staff and the fact that i have a life outside of fordham. I know that this is only one opinion and that others might have diffrent opinions, but trust me, everything i am telling you now, i heard it last year and just brushed it of.

fordham 2013 i have a few questions to ask you about your hep experience 1. i have my interview next week 2. if i am accepted through heop, can i live on campus? 3. how much do i have to pay out of my pocket? 4. after a year can i transfer to a cornell heop program or columbia( as long as i maintain a high gpa) 5. and finally, how was the summer program? like the schedule
