logistics specialist interview questions

Logistics Specialist Interview Questions
  • Do you have experience with logistics management software?
  • Can you give me an example of a contingency plan?
  • Why is monitoring customer shipments important?
  • How would you handle a situation if an important shipment got lost?

Speaking from personal experience, I was clueless of what to expect going into my entry level logistics interview (Logistics Specialist). After Googling countless articles, I still was unsure of what I’d be doing. There was just too much information out there. Truth is, you won’t know what the job consists of until you get to that interview and hear it from the hiring managers mouth.

Here are a few easy steps to get started and put yourself ahead of the game.

Safe Answer: “Supply Chain/Logistics is a complex and growing industry. In my next position I want to be challenged, continuously learn, and grow.” If you’re feeling extra confident, ask the hiring managers why they’re in logistics or what brought them to the industry. Occasionally, you’ll catch someone off guard and get an entertaining answer and even entertain the interviewer.

This should be interviewing 101 but from a recent batch of interviewees, it should be reiterated. Please please PLEASE come prepared with questions. Prepare 5 questions ahead of time and expect us to touch on 2-3 during our interview. Keep in mind, you’re interviewing us as much as we’re interviewing you.

Bring a portfolio to hold your resume and to write down any notes. Write anything that may seem important to remember in case you’re brought in for another interview. Personally, I hold interviewees in a positive light when they bring materials to an interview.

Tip: Forgot a notepad? It’s 2019, ask the hiring manager(s) if you can take notes on your smartphone.

At the end of the day, we’re looking to hire those who will be a good fit to the company. For an entry level position, we’re hiring you, not your experience. Be genuine in how you answer and remember that it’s just a conversation!
