Online Payment Options
For tech-savvy customers like me, online payments through MBLP’s website are the way to go. MBLP offers a few different online payment methods
SmartHub
This is MBLP’s online account management portal. With SmartHub you can easily view past bills, monitor your usage, make payments and more – all from your laptop or mobile device.
To use SmartHub, you’ll first need to register for an online account using your MBLP account number Once registered, you can securely store payment information for quick online payments now or in the future. SmartHub also allows you to opt-in for paperless billing and set up handy notifications for billing and outages.
Pay Now Online
You can make a one-time payment online through MBLP’s website without registering for SmartHub, Just have your account number handy and follow the Pay Now prompts, Payments made before 5 00pm Monday-Friday are applied the next business day,
This is a good option if you just need to pay your current bill but don’t want the ongoing account management features of SmartHub. The Pay Now Online payment portal accepts Visa, MasterCard, American Express, and Discover cards.
Pay Without Logging In
This online payment option allows you to securely pay without logging in to SmartHub or creating an account. Just enter your account number, email address, and payment info and your payment will process immediately.
I like to use this when I just need to pay my bill super quickly and don’t want any extra steps. The Pay Without Logging In page can be found on the SmartHub section of MBLP’s website.
In Person Payment Options
If you prefer to pay your bill in person, MBLP offers several ways to do that too:
At the MBLP Billing Office
The MBLP billing office is located at 2200 Wright Street in Marquette. Here you can pay by cash, check, credit/debit card, or money order. The billing office window is open Monday-Friday from 8am-5pm.
You can also use the drop box located outside the billing office after hours to drop off a check or money order. Just be sure to allow enough time for your payment to reach them before the due date.
Payment Kiosks
MBLP has partnered with PaySite kiosks to offer self-service bill payment stations throughout Marquette. These kiosks accept cash or cards and are located at over a dozen convenient locations including supermarkets, gas stations, banks, and more.
To pay at a kiosk, simply enter your account number and the kiosk will pull up your current balance. Insert cash or swipe your card to pay, and you’ll receive a printed receipt. Super easy!
Automatic and Mail Payment Options
If you really want to set it and forget it when paying your MBLP bill, automatic payments may be for you. You also have the old school option of mailing in a check.
Auto Withdrawal
With MBLP’s Automatic Electronic Payment Plan, your bill is paid directly from your bank account each month. Once enrolled, payments are automatically withdrawn on your due date so you don’t have to remember to pay.
To sign up, you’ll need to fill out an authorization form with your account and bank account numbers. You can print the form from MBLP’s website or pick one up at the billing office. Just be sure to attach a voided check.
Auto Charge
This automatic payment option charges your credit or debit card each month on the due date. To enroll in auto charge, you’ll need to register your payment information through SmartHub. Once set up, you’ll see “Do Not Pay” on your bill – the system does it for you!
If you prefer, you can mail in a physical check or money order payable to MBLP each month. Just make sure to allow 3-5 business days for standard mail delivery and processing time. Send your payment to:

What is Marquette Board of Light & Power smarthub?
Marquette Board of Light and Power’s SmartHub is a new tool for managing customer accounts. SmartHub lets customers pay their bills safely with just one click, sign up for auto-payment and paperless billing, see their current and past usage, get in touch with customer service, and report outages.
How do I pay my water bill in Marquette?
The City of Marquette accepts any of the following methods to pay your water bill. Choose the one that’s most convenient for you. Autopay is a program that lets our customers pay their utility bill by having money taken out of their checking or savings account without them having to do anything.
Does Marquette County have MBLP?
As of now, the MBLP is a modern public utility that serves about 16,000 people in the City of Marquette and all or part of nine townships in Marquette County: Marquette, Negaunee, Ishpeming, West Branch, Richmond, Chocolay, Skandia, Sands, and Forsyth. The offices of the Marquette Board of Light & Power will be closed on Mon.
When will I receive a bill from the BLP?
Upon receiving your completed application/authorization form, the BLP will enroll your account in the plan. You will continue to receive a bill every month from the BLP stating the amount of your bill. Your first electronic payment should occur within two billing cycles after submitting the application.
What happens if my power is disconnected from my MBLP account?
Online payments are processed and applied to your MBLP account on the following day. If your power went out, you’ll need to call our billing office at 906-228-0311. Once they get your completed application/authorization form, the BLP will add your account to the plan.
How do I know if my BLP payment is automatic?
Your bank’s monthly statement will show your automatic payment to the BLP, along with the date and exact amount paid. You can get authorization forms at the BLP office, print one off from the link above, or ask for one to be sent to you by mail.
