In the late 1930s, we began offering natural gas service to the region And by the 1950s, we had added water and sewer utilities as well With this expansion, we became known as New Albany Light, Gas & Water.

Today, New Albany Light provides electricity, natural gas, water, and sewer services to approximately 9,000 customers across Union County, Mississippi.
Our electric service area covers over 500 square miles and includes New Albany, Blue Springs, Myrtle, and surrounding rural areas. We maintain over 1,200 miles of electric distribution lines to deliver power to homes and businesses across our region.
Our natural gas service territory is concentrated in New Albany but also reaches some customers in Blue Springs. We operate hundreds of miles of gas distribution pipelines to provide safe, efficient natural gas service.
NALGW’s water system serves customers throughout the city of New Albany. And our sewer utility collects and treats wastewater from across our electric service area.

NALGW owns and operates the distribution infrastructure required to deliver electricity to homes and businesses. This includes substations, transformers, utility poles, and over 1,200 miles of distribution lines. We maintain this infrastructure to ensure reliable delivery of electricity.
While we handle electricity distribution, electricity generation and high-voltage transmission is managed by our wholesale power provider, Tennessee Valley Authority. This allows us to focus on safely and efficiently getting power to our local customers.
Natural Gas Service
New Albany Light also provides natural gas service to over 2,500 customers in New Albany and Blue Springs. We operate a network of underground natural gas pipelines to deliver this clean, efficient fuel to heat homes and power businesses.

Water and Sewer Utilities
