How to Pay Your Water Bill Online at Polk-County.Net

Paying your water bill online can save you time and effort compared to paying by mail or in person. Polk County, Florida offers an easy way for residents to pay their water and sewer bills online through their website, Polk-County.Net. In this article, I’ll walk you through the different options for paying your Polk County utilities bill online.

Overview of Polk County Utilities

Polk County Utilities provides water and sewer service to residents of unincorporated areas of Polk County, Florida. They serve over 95,000 water customers and over 75,000 wastewater customers across a large service area.

The Polk County Board of County Commissioners is in charge of the company. The office is in Winter Haven at 1011 Jim Keene Blvd. They have a website at Polk-County. Net where customers can find information and pay bills online.

Polk County Utilities sends out monthly bills for water and sewer service. As a customer, you are responsible for paying your bill by the due date to avoid late fees or service interruptions. The utility offers multiple ways to pay, including online payment options I’ll outline below.

Online Account Access

Setting up an account on Polk County Utilities’ website is the first thing you need to do to pay your bill online. Here’s how:

  1. Go to Polk-County.Net and click on “Pay Water Bill” at the top.

  2. On the Ways to Pay page, click on “Access Customer Portal”. This takes you to the log in screen at billpay.polkutilities.net.

  3. As a first time user, click “New User” to set up your account access.

  4. Enter your Polk County Utilities account number and an email address.

  5. Create a username and password

  6. Accept the terms and conditions and click “Submit”.

Once you’ve set up your account, you can log in at any time to see your account information and make online payments. To make sure you don’t miss any payments, I suggest setting up automatic payments (more on that below).

Automatic Bank Draft

A direct bank draft is the easiest way to pay your Polk County Utilities bill online. This takes money out of your bank account every month and pays your bill.

To set up automatic bank drafts:

  1. Log into your account at billpay.polkutilities.net.

  2. Under “My Profile”, click on “Payment Methods”.

  3. Click “Add New Payment Method”.

  4. Select “Bank Draft” and enter your bank account information.

  5. Check the box to authorize recurring payments.

  6. Submit the request.

It takes about 30 days to activate bank drafts. You’ll receive a confirmation letter when it’s set up. Just make sure you have enough in your bank account each month to cover the bill.

The great thing about bank drafts is they are free – no convenience fees! It’s the easiest way to avoid late payments.

Recurring Credit Card Payments

Another automatic option is to pay by recurring credit card payments through the online portal.

To set up recurring credit card payments:

  1. Log into your account and click on “Payment Methods”.

  2. Select “Credit Card” and enter your card details.

  3. Check the box to authorize recurring payments.

  4. Choose the date you want payments processed each month.

  5. Submit the request.

This will charge your credit card automatically each month on the date you selected. One thing to note – there is a $2.75 convenience fee per $500 charged. So factor that cost in if you choose this option.

One-Time Online Payments

If you prefer not to setup automatic payments, you can log in anytime and make one-time payments through the online portal. There are a few ways to pay:

  • Credit/Debit Card – Visa, Mastercard, Discover and American Express are accepted. There is a $2.75 convenience fee per $500 charged.

  • eCheck – Free direct payments from your bank account.

  • Alternative Payment Methods – PayPal, Venmo, Apple Pay, and others are accepted for a fee.

To make a one-time payment, simply log into your account, click on “Make Payment”, and select your preferred payment method. It’s that easy!

Just be sure to pay your bill before the monthly due date to avoid late fees. I recommend signing up for email reminders through your account portal so you don’t forget.

Pay-by-Phone

If you don’t want to log into the website, Polk County Utilities offers a pay-by-phone option.

Call (863) 298-4100 or 1-800-301-6039 to use the automated phone payment system. You’ll need your account number and card or bank details.

Convenience fees apply to pay-by-phone credit/debit payments. It’s free for eCheck payments.

In-Person Payments

You can also pay your Polk County Utilities water bill in person at:

  • Polk County Utilities building lobby at 1011 Jim Keene Blvd in Winter Haven. Open weekdays 8am-4:30pm.

  • Drop boxes located at the utility office and county administration building.

  • Any Amscot location – fees apply.

  • Northeast Government Center at 200 Government Center Blvd in Lake Alfred.

Payments made after hours or on weekends will be credited the next business day.

Avoid Late Fees

I want to stress the importance of paying your water bill on time every month. Polk County Utilities charges late fees if payment is not received by the due date.

The late fee is $6 or 5% of the past due balance, whichever is greater. This can add up!

Setting up automatic payments is the best way to avoid late fees. Even with one-time online payments, be sure to pay by the due date printed on your bill.
