RQ60: Security Analyst
Interviews for Top Jobs at ReliaQuest
Security Analyst Interview
I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at ReliaQuest in Jul 2022
Interview
I’ll be honest this was one of the hardest interviews I’ve ever been on in my entire life. It was kind of brutal. So there are 4 interviews in total. The first interview was basically a phone call and they asked 10 basic questions(DNS, Proxy, IPS/ids, TCP/ip) then you talk with a senior recruiter for the 2nd round interview. They will ask behavioral questions like how do you handle failure, tell us about a time you had a difficult situation and handled it. The third interview was technical and pretty much went deeper into what the 1st recruiter asked you. Everything that first recruiter asked you STUDY for!! Now just when you make it past this round thinking you’re home free, you get a 4th and final interview by managers. Now this was by far the hardest interview I’ve probably ever been a part of. They asked extremely technical questions to see how far you can go ! Put it this way I answered 90 percent of the technical questions on the third interview but couldn’t answer 1 on the 4th. This was a mix of technical and why do you wanna work here questions. By far the last interview is the one that really matters. If you do really one the first 3 that’s great! The last one is what counts. So don’t get your hopes up.
- Difference between Post and Get. Know LINUX! (Not commands)Know TCP/IP All of these must be studied in intricate detail.
Cyber Security Analyst Interview
I applied through a recruiter. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at ReliaQuest
Interview
I went through two interviews with Reliaquest that were pretty positive. The first interview was a get-to-know-you, behavioral, very surface level, tell about yourself and where you are at, interviewer super friendly. Technical-based interview, about an hour of fairly difficult cyber security questions.
- The first interview was the standard, tell me about yourself type questions you would expect. The second interview covered a wide array of cyber security questions including traffic analysis, network topology, standard networking questions, explaining ports, firewalls, what certain tools do, etc.
Operations Engineer Associate Interview
I applied through an employee referral. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at ReliaQuest in Aug 2022
Interview
There were a series of 4 interviews. The first 2 were with my recruiter. The 2nd was a technical interview focused on networking, linux, and Windows. The last was with senior leadership. The technical interview is focused heavily on linux commands.
- What’s a command to see running process in Linux?
Emphasize positivity and transparency
Exhibiting a positive attitude and outlook throughout the interview process while also being transparent with the interviewers is a trait Brittany says is crucial to a successful outcome. “If you’re having a hard time finding a job or were laid off, be honest and show that you’re putting in the effort to move forward,” Brittany offered, keeping in mind that it is possible to find positives in the negatives. “It’s like a two-way interview,” Brittany added, “they’re interviewing us almost as much as we’re interviewing them.”
From the top down, ReliaQuest is transparent with their goals and plans for betterment. This is something that Brittany found to be specifically motivating, as she “really believes in the company, the mission, and the leadership.” A shared mindset and set of values goes a long way at ReliaQuest: not only does this ensure employee success and satisfaction, but it also helps drive development of our GreyMatter platform, relationships with our customers and partners, and further the ReliaQuest promise of security confidence across our customers and our own teams.
Showcase your potential
Something unique that ReliaQuest sets out to do is hire for potential, not explicitly experience and education. This is an active way that the recruiting team at ReliaQuest is closing the skills gap within cybersecurity and focusing on staffing a diverse array of employees. By exhibiting a positive attitude, high energy, and persistent effort, you’re showing you have what it takes to make for a successful career at ReliaQuest.
“I think this is a big reason why people I have hired have been successful within the company and continue to stay,” said Brittany, “because they want to be with the company long-term and truly make an impact.” When deciding what candidates have the potential for success, Brittany makes sure to not only look for indicators that the candidate will be a good team fit, but also whether or not ReliaQuest is the right fit for them.
