A terrible process outsourced to an incompetent recruitment agency. Selection process was highly racially motivated, and interviewers where not prepared for the process. I wouldn’t recommend going through any process related to SMBC or RAW talent recruitment

Interview DetailsWhat did the interview consist of?Phone Interview1 on 1 InterviewPlease describe the interview / hiring process.Applied online, reached out to by recruiter and arranged phone interview. Phone interview was very basic. About a week or two later I was reached out to go to NY. They do NOT pay for your travel expenses and mainly recruit locally as such. Went to NY for a superday with 6 people. Very basic questions again, not even behavioral, just a few questions on resume and why this. Was very disorganized, each interview was supposed to be 30 minutes, but one went for 45, one for 15, and one interviewer that was supposed to come in after another interviewer decided to just talk to the previous interviewer outside the interviewing room for 20 minutes, leaving about 5 minutes to interview. Everyone was nice though and seems like a great place to work. This is very different from investment banking as this is corporate banking and they dont even really offer IBD services (refer to their capital markets division). That said, it may change in the upcoming years. Seems like an up and coming bank. Received an offer exactly two weeks after I interviewed, but thought I got dinged and accepted another, better offer instead (who gives an offer 2 weeks after a superday?) Interesting thing to note: Although you interview for the general program, you get an offer in a specific group. Its pretty easy to tell who liked you as your interviewers are from different divisions.
