Interviews at Smith & Nephew
I interviewed at Smith & Nephew
Scheduling interviews was easy, the recruiters were easy to work with. They apparently don’t coach the people doing the interviews at all on how to treat potential candidates. That was a terrible experience all around. No introductions on their roles, who they were and how we’d be working together, no common courtesy, just launched into gotcha moments. I can honestly say it was one of the worst experiences I’ve ever had. I would not have wanted to work with any of the people that would have potential to be my teammates based on that experience alone.

Great, the interviewers were friendly, casual talking, great communication. Interactions were great. Ask them questions. They were very helpful. Three rounds, starting with a video recording, then with my manager and then super boss.

I applied online. The process took 2 days. I interviewed at Smith & Nephew in Aug 2022
I applied online an received a text asking me to answer screener questions regarding employment eligibility which seemed smart and efficient. After completing this I was directed to an automated video interview website that I found extremely anxiety inducing. You are shown a video of someone asking a question, after which you are given 30 seconds to come up with a response and 3 minutes to record a video of your response. This immediately turned me off as I am applying for a job as an engineer, not a content creator, and have some considerable anxiety when it comes to recording myself on video. I declined to finish the interview and I imagine they are missing out on a large pool of qualified candidates who are not comfortable performing for the camera.

I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Smith & Nephew in Jul 2022
I received a call from our recruiter, Shon, who was right off the bat warm and welcoming. First impressions are huge on both sides, you are interviewing the company as much as they are interviewing you, it was a great first impression. After that I interviewed with the hiring manager in person. Then phone conversations with 4 reps (2 that I reached out to on my own via LinkedIn, 2 provided by the hiring manager) – I think this is very important, not only to show genuine interest but more importantly to learn as much as possible about the position. They were all welcoming and answered all of my questions thoroughly, and then some. Back to Shon. Experiences can be all over the place when job searching but I can honestly say it’s been the best hiring process I’ve had. Shon was always on the spot with communication. She was encouraging, transparent, and most of all represented the company culture perfectly.

I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Smith & Nephew in Jun 2022
The interview process was very unprofessional. The first interview was a phone screen with the recruiter. The second interview was with the hiring manager. The third interview was with the hiring manager and his team. The process was not very well organized. The interviewers were late and also had technical difficulties with MS Teams. After 3 rounds of interview, they said they will let me know what the next step is. I never heard back from the recruiter or the hiring manager. I sent a courteous email to the recruiter asking what the next step is but I got ghosted. Candidates invest their time with the interview process. At least send an email to let the candidate know you decided to go with another candidate.
