Customer Service Representative Interview

Interview
If they’re going to schedule an interview, the least they could do is show up for it. Sat for 15 minutes and no one joined. Called UHG and they said the recruiter will get back to me in 48 hours? Not a good first impression at all. The least they could have done was called and rescheduled before the interview instead of leaving me to wait there.
- No one showed up to the interview

Interview
I got an email saying that I was scheduled to interview after applying in late June/ early July. I waited all week and checked my inbox every day for the email. A few days later, I got an email saying “Thank you for taking the time to speak with me regarding the position” and that they had chosen someone else. Meanwhile, I have never interviewed with anyone at the company for this role, meaning they emailed the wrong person. This company is extremely disorganized and recruiters are ruining so many candidates chances at getting a job here. This is definitely not a place I’d work at. To start with, they spelled the name of the position wrong in the title. Thankfully I got an offer at their competitors company.
Manager Interview

Interview
Video-heavy and no telephone discussions, particularly in light of the pandemic. Several rounds meeting with senior leadership which was expected. That’s really all that needs to be said on a GD platform
- **CANDIDATES, BEWARE!!!** The Interview process wasn’t the issue; it was the UNFORGETTABLE offer experience at the end, when I was clearly the last candidate standing. A Fortune 10 – I repeat Fortune 10 – company who can easily afford to compensate top talent at market rate…couldn’t even offer a competitive salary, or sign-on bonus, or 6-month review in lieu of bonus, or mgmt bonus until 2 YEARS down the road. In fact, this company couldn’t – wouldn’t – negotiate at all (what company worth their salt offers ANYONE a sophisticated position without expecting SOME kind of negotiation?) Their reason for being sooo hinky: “Internal Equity” issues. They blamed their inability to negotiate with candidates on their current workforce. To add insult to their own brand injury, the HR recruiter had the audacity to rebuke me for reaching out to the would-be HM to seek clarity on the very bizarre job offer email and non-negotiating. “You go through ME”, they said. How odd, since the HM was the actual boss – NOT this unprofessional HR person who “thought” they were higher than the HM. I shared this shocking news with some career experts. Their response: “You were wise to RUN from that company”. Shame on UHG for condoning such a horrible candidate experience. If you want to attract talent to find their “Life’s Best Work”, perhaps you should first pitch top candidates YOUR best offer package.

Hi, I applied for the Customer Service Advocate position in Greensboro, NC and I completed my phone interview yesterday, the recruiter advised me that I was being moved to the next stage which was a face to face interview and that I would be contacted with an interview time. I called today and was told my application was under hiring manager review. What does this mean and when should I expect to get a call or email back? Thanks!

They will not give you a job offer during an interview.

United Healthcare HireVue interview – what to expect
HireVue interviews are interviews where the questions are decoupled from the answers. Simply put – you’ll be shown a pre-recorded question and you have to record yourself answering the question. The process is relatively straightforward, you’ll receive a link to your interview via email, which can be opened at any time before the deadline. Click on the link, and start your interview when you are ready. After some introductory videos, you’ll be shown your first question. That will start a “prep timer”, where you’ll usually have around 30 seconds to prepare an answer to the question displayed. After the prep timer winds down to zero – or if you choose to skip the prep time altogether – you’ll have between 2 to 3 minutes to answer. During that time, you’ll be recorded on video and audio.
This process will repeat itself over and over until there are no more questions to be asked. United Healthcare’s HireVue interview usually has only 3 to 5 questions. Most people are done with the interview in 25 minutes.

Sample Answer
“UnitedHealth Group is an American multinational company that operates as two health care platforms including Optum and UnitedHealth care. These two platforms are incorporated but Optum focuses on offering technology and information-based services while UnitedHealth care focuses on benefit services and healthcare coverage. I was impressed by the core values that guide this company since they are a match to what I value. This is one of the things that makes me want to be part of this company. Additionally, the way this company promotes volunteerism within its employees is at a very high level. I am looking forward to learning about how to get involved as well.”
At UnitedHealth Group, we seek to hire individuals who embrace integrity, which is one of our company’s values. When have you shown great integrity on the job?
Integrity is critical in all of the work that UnitedHealth Group performs, particularly as it pertains to patient privacy and confidentiality. You will likely be asked a question regarding your integrity or ethical behavior, and it might be framed as situation-based. In this case, the interviewer wants to know that you truly believe in and operate by this value, so be sure to prepare a response that frames your sincerity. If you are providing a specific example from a previous position, then be sure to not share any identifying information or paint a former employer in a negative light.

“One day, my colleague faxed patient information to a doctors office, but the confirmation never came back. She then noticed she had faxed it to the wrong location. Of course, this is something that needs to be reported. After telling me about her error, she told me that she wasnt going to report it. I talked through the initial fear of admitting the mistake to our supervisor and reminded her that ultimately this was against HIPAA guidelines. She finally agreed to tell our supervisor, the incident was reported to the patient, and protocols were followed. It was a simple mistake, but the consequences required us to do the right thing.”

“During one of our breaks, I had a co-worker who posted specific information about a patients medical situation on social media and how she helped him. This is against company policy, but also could be a HIPAA breach. I notified my manager right away. My colleague wasnt happy with me, but I had to take action and do the right thing in this situation because our organizations reputation was on the line. The post was immediately deleted by the employee.”

“I had to terminate a long-term employee for a theft issue I had discovered. Through the many years of service this individual gave the company, it was difficult to do this as I thought of him as a friend.”
