After School Care Assistant Interview

Application

I applied through an employee referral. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at Punahou School (Honolulu, HI) in Sep 2012

Interview

Meet with the coordinator. I discussed my previous experience working with kids and we talked about the schedule, what days I would be available to work. I was referred to the position so I mentioned my friend that was already working in after school care. I believe all the assistants are also Punahou students.

Interview Questions

  • What days are you available to work?

“Mahalo for your support and expertise as we prepared [our daughter] for the kindergarten application process. We are elated to share that [she] was accepted to Punahou, Iolani, and Maryknoll. After much thought, our family has decided to move forward with Punahou. Thank you for helping her succeed in joining Punahou’s Class of 2030!” — K.P.

“Thank you for helping me get into Punahou School for 6th grade. I can’t thank you enough for all your help you have done for me. I will never forget the memories I made while going to Juku and all the staff that helped me learn in a fun way so i can concentrate. I will look forward to the chalenges that await me in Punahou. I will never forget Dr. Takahashi Juku.” — Nina

“Just ask around and you’ll hear that this is where everyone sends their kids for private school prep if they can afford it. It’s a cute small school that got our kids into Punahou and Iolani and us through major stress. Our son started in the preK program and our older son started in the SSAT program. He went from scoring 13% to 99% in every section of the real test. We were shocked. They also prepped him for his group interview and essay. On the big day, he went in confident and came out SO happy. He said it was the best day ever. As parents, hearing that is a huge relief after all the efforts. We got the same tutors every time and they adapted the programs to our boys. They gave us detailed advice for work at home after each lesson and we made appointments if we needed more time. They even helped us prep the confusing applications. They really are full service. The best part as a parent is that both our boys loved going so much that we never had to push them. They also LOVED the prizes they could score. Juku is worth it for their experience, customized education and workshops. 90 acceptances went to their students last year and our boys got to start their new schools with their juku friends.” — R.L.

“Dr. Takahashi Juku has been a major help to my academic career. I became a student in my ninth grade year and worked with Dr. Takahashi on Algebra to Calculus throughout the 4 years. I also received high quality tutoring in AP level English. The instructors here are very generous and care about your academic development. Thanks to Dr. Takahashi and the instructors, I was accepted into Nagoya University. I believe that the interview practice and advice for Nagoya University that I was able to receive at Juku really contributed to my success. Nagoya University is ranked 4th out of the 950 universities ranked in Japan and thus stands as one of the highest ranking institutions in Japan. Receiving the letter of acceptance was truly an honor, and I was pouring with gratitude for Dr. Takahashi and his instructors. If you’re thinking about or looking for a tutoring institution, I definitely recommend you to try Dr. Takahashi Juku.” — Chris
