Experience Designer Interview
I interviewed at Adobe
Interview
Unusual Questions that pertained to the bootcamp i was taking. The interviewer kept asking more about what my classmates were like and by instructors. Not about my skillset or any projects I worked on.It became more of a personality mismatch and very conversational.
- Why did you choose this bootcamp?
Experience Designer Interview
I applied through a recruiter. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Adobe (New York, NY) in Jun 2016
Interview
I had two phone interviews before I went to their office. I first had a portfolio review, followed by one on one meetings. I was interviewed by 5 different people of their team, including directors, managers and lead designers from different departments. The whole process was pretty long (3 hours), but the questions were pretty standard and everyone was very nice.
- How do you feel about making products for other designers?
âTell me about yourself?â âHow did you get into design?â âWhy do you want to work in UX design?â âCan you share some experiences you think are examples of good design?â
Both Patti and Mackenzie mentioned that overall you can expect pretty generic questions. âMost of the time, I ask pretty straightforward questions in an interview, I keep things pretty standard,â shares Patti. This aligns with Mackenzieâs experience: âTo be honest, the questions that I get are pretty standard, and the questions repeat all the time.â These questions help the interviewer to get to know you and understand your perspectives on design.
One word of caution – Patti highlights that there are certain questions that cannot legally be asked in an interview, due to a country or stateâs laws. These can include questions like whether you have kids or whether you have ever filed for bankruptcy, or your disability status. These laws are intended to protect against discrimination. âItâs definitely useful to know what your rights are, and to know that you donât have to disclose that information in the case you did get asked.â
Heres a comprehensive list of Adobe XD job interview questions along with answers that will help you to nail the job interview, identify knowledge gaps and learn new things about Adobe XD. Adobe XD is a powerful tool for creating prototypes and designing user experience.QUESTION 1:
âHow do you define success for a user experience?â
In addition, you need to be prepared to articulate how you define success for a certain user experience. This can be a great way to stand out as a candidate, as many people donât take the time to think about how they would define success. Mackenzie takes that a step further and thinks about how to measure that success. âI usually talk about my own process, where I start with a high level goal. Then I back cast from that to define the desired user behaviours. Then Iâm going to translate it into measurements, for example improving NPS (net promoter score) or HEART (happiness, engagement, adoption, retention, task success) score.â
