Was recruited to interview for a role that was a great match for my skill set. I was really excited about the role and after the first interview with my would-be boss, he was also excited about my experience and asked me to interview with the rest of the leadership team and invest over 8 hours of time speaking to 7 more people. After I finished the interviews, I was told by the recruiter that everyone loved me, but my would-be boss didn’t have a good handle on the needs of the position and apologized because it was actually just a writing position and not the strategic role I was pitched and interviewed for extensively. I had to listen to 8 hours of people asking me “what can I say to get you to join us?” and didn’t even get an offer… yikes!! Such a waste of valuable time. Very disappointing.
