Cruise staff members often perform cleaning duties, such as washing dishes and mopping floors. Employers ask this question to make sure you’re comfortable with these tasks. If you have previous experience performing cleaning duties, share that information in your answer. If you don’t have any experience, explain how you would approach the task if given the opportunity.
I also think it’s important to get involved with activities and conversations among the crew. For example, if I saw someone else playing music or singing, I would join in. If there was a conversation going on between two employees, I would try to contribute to it. I think these small interactions show our guests that we care about one another and enjoy working together.”
Example: “One time I saw a family struggling to get their stroller on board. They were clearly stressed out, so I offered to help them. After helping them get the stroller onto the ship, I asked if they needed anything else. The mother said she would love some ice for her sunburned shoulders. So, I went back to my station and grabbed some ice from our supply. She was very grateful and told me that I had saved their vacation.”
