Candidates who would like to be considered for a position at DGS should email a copy of their cover letter, resume and educational philosophy to [email protected]. The subject line should read “Resume for ____position(s)”. We print and review all resumes sent to our school. If you apply via the district, we also search those resumes, but do not necessarily print every resume. If we review your resume and would like to move you along in our process, you will receive an email with instructions for how to schedule a phone interview. If we decide to not move you along in the process at this point we will not be able to notify you. We apologize for this lack of communication, but over 200 resume reviews make it difficult to communicate during this phase of the process.
Applicants who move beyond the resume review will conduct a phone interview with a member of the DGS hiring committee. These phone interviews traverse 5 questions and take no more than 15 minutes. The time for the phone interview will be established prior to the actual conversation, so dont worry about a random call while youre chopping vegetables for a mirepoix that asks you to explain differentiation strategies for GT learners. Phew! Actually, to call the phone interview a conversation is misleading, in reality the phone interview is really the applicant answering five questions with the hiring committee member taking notes. In the past this has been described as awkward and impersonal, but we feel that it is fair to all candidates that hiring committee members refrain from responding to questions. The concern is that one candidate might get the advantage of a lot of positive feedback or a personal connection while another applicant may not. Thankfully, at the conclusion of the phone interview, the candidate is free to ask additional questions about the school.
