The phone interview went well and the person who interviewed me was calm and made me not so nervous speaking with her. It was during the holidays and she told me if they decide to chose me they will contact me again to let me know and if they don’t they will also contact me . She said she was going on vacation the following week so I’d hear back the following week. I’m guessing she never returned from vacation I didn’t hear anything back.

Did a phone interview with an HR person that is not local to the specific clinic, but probably manages all labs/clinics in network. The person I talked to was nice, but didn’t seem super knowledgable about some of the more technical questions about the day to day operations of the lab.
- How do you think you align with the values of Shady Grove?
Example: “I have worked in this field for five years now, and I’ve seen many different types of patients who are going through infertility treatments. Some of my favorite experiences were working with a couple who had been trying to conceive for two years before they sought treatment. They were very nervous about starting fertility treatments but excited to finally start them. We started them on an IVF cycle that resulted in pregnancy. The family was so happy when they found out they were expecting.”
This question is a great way to see how you prioritize your work. It also shows the interviewer what you value as an employee and person. Your answer should show that you understand the importance of fertility nursing, but it can also be a chance to share some personal values with the interviewer.
Example: “I would first try to clarify what they misunderstood by asking them questions about the information they received. If I still didn’t understand, I’d ask for clarification from my supervisor or another nurse who may have more experience working with this patient. I want to ensure that all of our patients are receiving accurate information so they can make informed decisions about their care.”
Example: “In my last position as a fertility nurse, I had a patient who was upset because her doctor told her she needed to take a break from treatment for two weeks. She felt like the doctor didn’t care about her situation and wanted me to convince him to change his mind. When I spoke with the doctor, he explained that it was important for her to rest so she could heal before starting another round of treatment. He also said that if she started treatment too soon after the last one, it would be more difficult to get pregnant.”
Example: “I have worked with many patients who are struggling to get pregnant, so I know that there are many factors that affect pregnancy outcomes. If I was working at this clinic, I would want to make sure all staff members understand the importance of patient education. Patients need to be aware of their options and how they can increase their chances of getting pregnant. For example, I had a patient who didn’t realize she could take folic acid before conception. She took it after learning about it from me, and now she has a healthy baby.”
Do you have any experience counseling patients?
Fertility nurses spend most of their time counseling patients struggling with their reproductive health. They need to have some counseling experience to ensure they can help support their patients.
“In my last position, I helped counsel women who experienced pregnancy loss through spontaneous abortion or other complications. I use a non-judgemental, professional approach in my counseling style to make the patients feel comfortable and open up about their concerns.”
