As a restaurant manager, interviewing new employees can be a stressful situation. Many of the standard restaurant interview questions can be found online so candidates can prepare ahead of time to give the best answer. There’s nothing wrong with that. But do those answers necessarily translate into real-life skills and abilities? It’s hard to say.
To help you really get to know the candidate you’re interviewing, you’ve got to go deeper. To help you make the interview process easier, we’ve created a list of the 20 most important restaurant interview questions.
These questions will help you avoid the canned answers that sound great in the interview but don’t truly reveal the candidate’s potential.

GSR Interview
I applied online. The process took 1 day. I interviewed at Mission BBQ in Jul 2018
Interview
Quite easy, talked to an assistant manager he liked me. He then got the general manager who hired me on the spot. The interview processs was 45 minutes all together. I had to fill out hiring paper work then come back for a “follow” shift.

Servant Heart Leader Interview
I applied online. The process took 2 months. I interviewed at Mission BBQ (Jacksonville, FL) in Jun 2022
Interview
Applied via Indeed for a FOH management position. Was told the position available is a KM position on 3rd interview. Multiple phone interviews between recruiter and in person interviews with Regional Manager. Thought interviews were going well after 2 months of interviews. Worked “A day in the life” and was ghosted. Waste of time. Now they’re hiring for multiple SHL positions so I may have dodged a bullet.
