7 common Pymetrics questions – and how to answer them
Interviews for Top Jobs at Pymetrics
Software Engineer Interview
I applied online. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at Pymetrics
Interview
The process was standard. initial phone screening, phone call with an engineer, & online 1-1 coding challenge. Didn’t get to the on site. It is what it is with these questions, you’ve either done them before or you haven’t. Solving algorithm question is usually not too hard, but finding the optimal solution that’s where you need to have done it or a similar problem before. Anyways that’s not their fault alone, it’s just the tech hiring process in general. The one thing that made me doubt joining them was their product model, which is that they test people’s aptitude for a certain position based on neuroscience. People will play games that will rate their personality. The problem with this is that scientific theories could potentially be proven wrong. It’s happened before. You can even argue that you can find studies done to many opposing claims. This being the case, you have to be wary of case studies, and always be on the lookout for any new findings. So I asked ‘what do you guys do, when you receive feedback about a game or it needs to be changed for any reason’. Didn’t ask the question directly, but new findings would fall under this categoryHis response. ‘they don’t need to be changed. They’re based on science’.That’s scary considering that you’re putting people’s careers at play with this technology. You have to be open to change if your ‘findings’ are ever proven wrong.
- Nothing unexpected.
Implementation Manager Interview
I interviewed at Pymetrics
Interview
I had a phone interview with the head of Professional Services followed with a call with HR. After following up, I did not hear back . The irony for a company that prides itself in improving the recruitment process is a part of the problem. I would not trust their services or products.
- What experience do you have with technical implementations?
Question 1: Tell me about yourself
This is a classic warm-up Pymetrics question, designed to break the ice.
However, the person viewing your video also actually wants to hear about you in your own words!
The best way to answer this is to not read off your CV! Many people make that mistake, and if you don’t, you are already ahead of quite a few applicants.
Make sure your answer is an executive summary of yourself and your career. It doesn’t have to go into details of each job or assignment you had or move in chronological order.
As long as the interviewer can place your overall career, aspirations, and style quickly, you will have accomplished your goal for this question.
Tips for Any Interview Setting
Regardless of whether youâre interviewing over the phone or on a video call, there are a few general tips to keep in mind.
Research the company you are applying for as well as your interviewers
It is important to research the company, the CEO, competitors, your interviewers and possible teammates, and anything you can about the industry. This will give you the upper handâespecially if asked questions like âHave you seen XYZ on our websiteâ¦â or âIâm not sure if you know much about our company background butâ¦â Any time youâre able to showcase that youâve done your research, the better.
Prepare questions to ask about the company or the job position
In every good interview, usually towards the end, the interviewer asks the interviewee if they have any questions about the company or the role. Coming up with these questions on the fly can be challenging and it may be obvious that you are flustered. Additionally, in the heat of the interview, it is very easy to forget an important question you planned to ask. Write up a list of your questions beforehand and have them on hand during your interview.
Showing that youâve prepared for your interview by researching the company and preparing questions about the role can give your interviewer confidence in your ability to prepare for important meetings, events, and etcetera in the workplace. Be sure to re-read the job description right before your interview and have examples of your work on hand. Showing your research chops and preparation abilities is a key factor in convincing your interviewer that the job should be yours.
What is a digital interview?
A digital interview is a process whereby applicants receive a series of questions and record their responses for the hiring manager to review. A digital interview is different from a video interview in that it does not involve real-time interaction between the applicant and the hiring manager.
