Service Specialist Interview
I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Viking Cruises (Woodland Hills, CA) in Jun 2022
Interview
First had a phone interview then was contacted a week later for a virtual group interview. Both of the interviews were straight forward. However, I had never had a group interview before this company, so I went in seeing three other candidates in the virtual video. I was a little nervous thinking I was competing with each one of them to get the position. The two interviewers assured us not to worry and that we were not in competition with each other; they are actively hiring every month. This set the tone for the interview, in my opinion. It lasted about 30 minutes and were asked typical questions about customer service duties and experiences.
- 1. What have you learned in previous positions that will help you be successful in this role? 2. If you had to choose rapport or knowledge of products & services, which would you choose and why?3. Describe the experience with you in one word when it comes to the service you provide for the customer.4. Describe a situation where a customer was upset on a call. What could you have done differently?5. Are you available to work on weekends?
Web Chat Sales Representative Interview
I interviewed at Viking Cruises (Kaysville, UT)
Interview
Had an interview scheduled that they never showed up for. I gave them a second chance and decided to interview with them. After a positive experience I thought they said I would move on to the next round and they would be in touch. Only to receive a automated email saying I was no longer being considered 2 days later. If you’re going to do that why tell someone they are moving on to the next round? Also show up the first time. If I take time out of my day to interview please take the interview as seriously as I do and show up.

This question is a great way to show your interest in the company and how you can contribute to its success. When answering this question, it’s important to be honest about what you would change if given the opportunity. You should also include an explanation of why you would make that change.
Example: “One thing I would change about Viking Cruises is the amount of time it takes for employees to get from one place to another on the ship. It seems like there are too many floors between some departments, which makes it difficult to communicate with each other quickly. If I were hired as a cruise director, I would implement a system where all employees could use their phones to call or text anyone else on the ship.”
Example: “In my last position as a cruise director, I was responsible for planning all of our onboard activities. One week before we set sail, one of our entertainment staff called in sick. I had to find a replacement on short notice. I contacted some local talent agencies and found someone who could fill in. They were more expensive than our usual entertainers, but they were worth it because they provided excellent customer service.”
Example: “I’m most interested in exploring new destinations and cultures. I love learning about different places and meeting people from all over the world. I’ve been fortunate enough to visit many countries already, but I still have plenty more to see. I also enjoy relaxing vacations where I can spend time with my family or friends. I think Viking Cruises would be a great fit for me because it seems like there are plenty of opportunities to explore and relax.”
Viking Cruises is a travel company, so it’s important that you have experience with sales and customer service. This question allows the interviewer to assess your skills in these areas and determine if they are compatible with Viking Cruises’ needs. In your answer, describe how you’ve used your sales and customer service skills to help others.
